A meat by any other nameThis week, world experts will attend a summit where they will outline the present situation, challenges ahead and future scenarios for 'in vitro', or laboratory-grown meat30 August 2011 In vitro meat was hailed as the world’s solution to looming environmental problems caused by industrial meat production. That was until the science lost its way. This week, a group of leading international researchers are meeting to try to steer it back on course(...) .. despite a $1 million prize offered by animal rights organisation PETA to any scientist who can actually manage to create a steak in a test-tube, along with millions of euros of Dutch government funding, no one has quite figured out how to produce in vitro meat....
