USA: Big Meat stabs Meatless Mondays2 August 2012An uproar from the world of abattoirs followed USDA's recommendation, published in Greening Updates dated 23 July 2012: 'One simple way to reduce your environmental impact while dining at our cafeterias is to participate in the “Meatless Monday” initiative http://www.meatlessmonday.com/. This international effort, as the name implies, encourages people not to eat meat on Mondays...' The national Department for Agriculture had to retract the statement. Has one ever seen a clearer demonstration of who is calling the shots? It will be interesting to find out how Mr. and Mrs. USA are going to react to this kind of coercion. --------------- Quote: 'No matter where you come down on the carnivore-vegetarian continuum, this episode should shock, disgust and frighten you' --->David Sirota - In the face of severe drought, public displays of political gluttony
