EU TO TURKEY – NIGHTMARE JOURNEYS CONTINUE---Widespread suffering---11 July 2012 Shocking new evidence has emerged of the serious welfare problems in the export of farm animals from the EU to Turkey, a trade which broke the million-animal mark last year. Two European animal welfare organisations, Eyes on Animals and Animal Welfare Foundation, carried out an investigation from 22nd to 29th June at the border between the EU (Bulgaria) and Turkey. They found many animals being transported in ways that breach EU regulations.
