USA: The HSUS Urges Salina, N.Y. to Adopt a Humane Program for Managing Coyote ConflictsMay 10, 2012 The Humane Society of the United States is encouraging the town board of Salina, N.Y. to adopt a humane program for managing conflicts with coyotes, rather than resorting to ineffective, lethal measures. Due to reports of coyote sightings and a coyote taking an unattended, domestic cat earlier this year, the town board is considering hiring a private contractor to kill coyotes. The board will make its decision at a May 14 hearing. The HSUS has offered to assist in the design and implementation of a humane program for solving coyote conflicts, but the town board has not responded....
