A survey of the quality of water in the river Kali in the Karnataka shows it has 12 milligrammes of mercury per liter. Not only the Kali, every river in the India has extremely high levels of mercury. One part per billion is the safe limit. Every fish in India swims in water with a thousand times more than that level.

Across the world, scientists have realized how far mercury contamination has spread into seafood....
