EU: MEP exposes industry threat to lab animal welfare reform25 February 2009Slovenian liberal MEP Mojca Drcar Murko has publicly criticised excessive lobbying by the pharmaceutical industry aimed at defeating proposals that would significantly increase protection for animals in laboratories. The proposals have been put forward as part of the revision of EU Directive 86/609 on the use of animals for scientific research and testing. The European Commission published proposals last November that would see a ban on experiments on great apes and tighter regulation of animal experiments.......
