Jaipur - 16th Birding Fair



It is pleasure to share that the 16th Birding Fair will be held on 1 and 2 February 2013 (daily from 9 am till 2 pm) at Jaipur’s Man Sagar lake (entry through Delhi bypass). It is the Citizens’ Initiative to conserve this 400 year old scenic water body, closely inter-linked with the psyche of local people.

The Fair will be dedicated to Urban Lakes, which often get polluted through the cities’ sewerage and become cesspool of filth. The Ministry of Environment & Forest (MoEF) has supported more than 100 such lakes in the country, having provided about Rs 1,000-crore to them. Wonder how many and which ones got conserved at eco-system based approach; Man Sagar has come up as a classic example of lake restoration (2002 – 11). However, the initiatives were thwarted during 2011-12 by a handful of persons taking the issue to the High Court, its directive would tend to lead to degradation of this conserved lake...
