The beaches of Brittany in Northern France attract millions of visitors from around the world. Tourists are drawn by the coastline’s reputation for a beautiful, rugged landscape and expanses of pristine sand. But the truth behind the picture postcard perfect image is very different.

Inland from these beaches, pigs are being farmed in systems that do not meet their most basic needs; confined, over-crowded and mutilated. Pollution from these farms is widely believed to be the cause of vast algae blooms in the sea surrounding the Brittany coast. And, when this algae decomposes on the beaches it can have fatal consequences...
