Basking shark visits Belgian coast31 July 2012Because of many holiday cancellations due to bad weather, the mayor of the North Sea resort of Knokke-Heist considers making the media and meteorological service responsible for financial losses "because they published rubbish" and frighten tourists away. Since chances for compensations are rather slim, it may have been more helpful to ask Saint Medard of Noyon, born 456 in neighbouring France, for better weather instead. Fortunately at least a harmless basking shark wasn't put off by bad forecasts: The young animal visited the beach of De Panne but was quickly guided back to safer waters....
