Italy: Corpo forestale dello Stato seizes 'Green Hill', dog-breeding farm for vivisection labs

Three people investigated for animal abuse and neglect - dogs stay put

Information: Corpo forestale dello Stato
18 July 2012, 16 h

The Corpo forestale dello Stato (State Forestry Corps) is effecting the seizure of “Green Hill”, well-known dog breeding farm in Montichiari (Brescia).

About 30 forestry agents from the provincial Ccommands of Brescia, Bergamo, and NIRDA (specialized investigative group for animal cruelty crimes) are participating in the operations, ordered by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

So far all beagles, puppies and adults, have been seized, as well as all the establishment's sheds, offices and annexes of 5 hectares.

Currently, the operations are still going on and are expected to last for several more hours.

The number of dogs is not yet known because of the massive scale of the intervention. However, for now they will remain at the farm, where Green Hill representatives in cooperation with the town Mayor and local health authorities will care for them.

Three people are investigated for complicity in the crime of animal abuse and neglect (art. 544 ter Penal Code).
