Portugal: 'My movement' against bullfights and animals in circuses19 March 2012The Portuguese government website invited all citizens to have a say in the campaign "My Movement" (O Meu Movimento) . This initiative offered everyone the role of playing an active part in democracy by creating a 'movement' and making the public aware of it. From a total of 1008 entries, seven finalists were shortlisted on 7 March, including two animal rights causes, namely to abolish - bullfights (this issue has been leading the votes from an early stage), and - animals in circuses. The winning cause will receive a hearing by the Prime Minister at a date yet to be announced.
