USA: Lawsuit Challenges Air Pollution Permit for Arctic Drilling by Shell OilFebruary 22, 2012SAN FRANCISCO— The Center for Biological Diversity and allies have filed a lawsuit in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals challenging the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s air-pollution permit for Shell’s exploratory drilling operations in the Beaufort and Chukchi seas. Shell intends to use the drillship Discoverer and it support fleet to drill in the fragile, remote, stormy and icy waters of the U.S. Arctic starting this summer...
