Veggies on the Move: Western consumers are reducing meat consumption

Meat's bad press starts having an impact

9 September 2011

"Meat is delicious" say hardcore carnivores. And: "Animals are there to be eaten!"

However, even these people must start having some doubts if such selfish culinary pleasures really justify mind boggling animal suffering, dangerous environmental degradation, and all ensuing and costly health problems our society is confronted with today.

And another aspect is reason enough for many compassionate citizens to drop the meat-habit: Farm animals are eating half of all available food resources (about 95% of soy !) while a child dies of hunger every few seconds.
