Artificial meat - the way to go

'Animal agriculture is one of the last vestiges of the Stone Age'

21 June 2011

In a recent EVANA-Interview Doctor Joerg Luy, professor of veterinary medicine at the Free University of Berlin, said : "Animal agriculture is one of the last vestiges of the Stone Age. I believe that by 2050 great technological progress will have been made toward substitutes for meat. I can conceive that by 2100, the consumption of animals will be a relic of the past. Synthetic foods are certainly not romantic, but they make a lot of sense because of their potential to cause fewer side effects and fewer health risks. The off-putting “esthetics” of this kind of food is from a medical point of view no more problematic than multivitamin drinks."

Unfortunately the final product is not yet in sight which is extremely unfortunate because it could solve so many of our present problems at once: Stop animal suffering, improve human health and take enormous pressure off the environment....
