Mais vale tarde que nunca: O Parlamento Europeu aceitou os termos vegetariano e vegano

Texto adoptado na sessão Plenária de 16 de Junho 2010 em Estrasburgo:

"O termo "vegetariano" não deve ser aplicado a géneros alimentícios que sejam produtos derivados de animais que morreram, que foram abatidos ou que morrem ao serem ingeridos, ou que sejam feitos a partir de ou com esses produtos. O termo "vegan" ("vegetalista") não deve ser aplicado a géneros alimentícios que sejam animais ou produtos animais, ou que sejam produzidos a partir de ou com esses produtos (incluindo produtos derivados de animais vivos)."
