Brooklyn - Dr. Richard Schwartz speaks on Vegetarianism

Rabbi Segal felt that it would be timely to have Dr. Schwartz speak to his congregation in light of all the controversy surrounding agriprocessors and other unethical activity which has taken place in the meat industry over the last few of years.

Issues considered:

Jewish Vegetarianism: forbidden, mandated, or optional?

Should vegetarianism be on the Jewish agenda today?

Can a shift to vegetarianism reduce:
*the current epidemic of diseases in the Jewish and other communities?

* global climate change and other environmental threats that imperil all of humanity?

* current shortages of food, water and energy?

* the current mistreatment of farmed animals?
