Dog Sacrifice in India ( a cult practice )Nagini Puja is a cult ritual performed by the Karbi tribals of Assam, India`s northeastern state where dogs are sacrificed. This ritual which was unheard of being practiced in Assam for long has surfaced once again, and this time near Guwahati city (the most developed city in the northeastern India). Barely 35kms from Guwahati is a place called Sonapur on the national highway no: 37. This is a zone which has a lot of communities dwelling on either sides of the highway. One such Karbi community dared to go ahead and performed 'Nagini Puja' ( worship of the female Cobra ) and sacrificed the lives of three Indian dogs. Two were beaten to death while the third`s throat was slit by a blunt knife. The tribals then collected the blood of the dogs in a bamboo pole and carried it to the households in their neighbourhood collecting donations. Later they feasted on the dog meat.
